Louis Vuitton Marquee Powered by CAO Group's Dynasty® LED Lamp

Cutting-edge lighting project adorns the new Crystals shopping complex in Las Vegas' CityCenter Salt Lake City – December 8, 2009 - The CAO Group, Inc., Dynasty® LED lamp is the driving force behind the dazzling display on the new Louis Vuitton store at the Crystals City Center in Las Vegas. The display was unveiled December 3rd as the centerpiece and crown jewel of the new Daniel Libeskind-designed Crystals shopping complex at the City Center on the Las Vegas Blvd, "The Strip".

"We're thrilled with how the display turned out, "said John Mulliken, VP, Store Planning and Development for Louis Vuitton, North America. "John Fox and the CAO Group's Dynasty lamps have created a breathtaking display that perfectly captures the power and beauty of the Louis Vuitton brand. Truly stunning."

The full video display, designed by internationally acclaimed lighting expert John Fox of Fox & Fox Design, features 5,000 Dynasty® lamps and is nearly 80'x 80' in area coverage. It was built to display full video motion, as well as "flash-bulb" bursts that are evocative of the Eiffel Tower strobe lighting, visible nightly in Paris. The unique ALL-WHITE LED video facade took two years to complete from inception and six months to construct. It will last for years to come because the façade uses less than 5o00 watts and uniquely contains patented Dynasty® LED lamps that feature a 360-degree emission light beam pattern and easily replaceable lamps.

"This is such a beautiful and unique project, and the CAO Group was the only company with the LED that could pull off the artistry of the design," Fox said. "No one is able to do what they're doing. As a result, the rest of the lighting industry is well behind them."

Fox and his team, in collaboration with the skilled engineers at Lighting Science Group, were contracted to conceptualize, design and construct the LED video display by Louis Vuitton executives, who charged him with creating something that would evoke the elegance of the brand while also capturing the imagination of people on the crowded Vegas strip. Fox searched for a year looking for a versatile exterior LED lamp that would deliver enough light and maintain its sophistication but was unable to find one until he discovered the Dynasty® LED line.

"This is a tremendous win for The CAO Group, and we're very thankful to be involved with John Fox and the Louis Vuitton team," said Densen Cao, CEO of the CAO Group. "The beauty and vibrance of the Dynasty® lamp, in partnership with the Louis Vuitton brand, truly makes this project extraordinary. It is something to behold for all lighting and video enthusiasts, and the general public will experience this spectacular display for years to come."

The CAO Group's LED lighting division features several lamps in various sizes. To learn more about the CAO Group and the Dynasty® lighting division, please visit www.caogroup.com.

CAO GROUP ADDS BRIGHTNESS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CAPABILITIES TO LUXEMBRIGHT™ CHANNEL LETTER SYSTEM

Date: 12/4/07 Greater brightness and greater suitability for signage applications with adverse environmental challenges are now built into CAO Group’s enhanced Luxembright™ channel letter illumination system. The new phosphor that delivers the greater brightness significantly outperforms anything else on the market in terms of lumens per dollar, as well as extending the expected lifespan of the LED by 20%. Because the system has also passed the ASTM salt fog spray test, the point of entry for environmentally challenging signage applications, CAO has extended the warranty period by 12 months. The operating temperature range is -40ºF to 140ºF (and the storage range is 9º higher), and the humidity rating is < 70%.

The LuxemBright™ channel letter illumination system uses a pixel arrangement of customized LED lamps to create high intensity and uniform light beams. According to Dr. Densen Cao, the company’s CEO, this is the first LED lighting solution to rival the brightness of neon, and to provide a low voltage alternative to fluorescent lighting. The LuxemBright™’s primary characteristic is its 10 LEDs per module design (5 LEDs per pixel, 2 pixels per module). The standard version accommodates 3 modules per foot which is ideal for large channel letters, while the economy series accommodates 2 modules per foot, making it appropriate for small channel letters.

CAO offers the Luxem-Bright™ channel letter system in white, red, yellow, green and blue colors. The typical wavelength for red LEDs is 629 nm, LED intensity is 1000 (measured with an integrating sphere after the device is stabilized), and luminous intensity per module is 10 (cd). Warranty varies with color, but now ranges from 36 months to 60 months.

Sign builders will find the modules easy to install with double-sided tape on back and screw holders on the side of the modules. They can be mounted on both back and side of channel letters. The side mounting feature of the Luxem-Bright™ enables a channel letter depth as thin as 2 inches and can illuminate letters with a stroke of up to 18 inches wide. These mounting properties reduce installation time, while the high intensity, uniform beam lets the sign builder use fewer linear feet per channel letter, reducing the cost for parts as well. The customer emerges with a system that costs less than alternatives, yet provides long hours of operation with uniform color, superior coverage, low power consumption, low maintenance, easy installation, high reliability, water resistance, and optimum heat management.

Special Points of Interest:

  • LEDs now last 20% longer
  • Warranty has been extended 12 months.
  • The system has passed the ASTM salt fog spray test.

CAO Group provides compatible power supplies, connectors and installation tools for the Luxembright system. The entire Luxem-Bright™ product line, including accessories, is UL listed. Product details are available at www.caolighting.com and product is in stock at established CAO Group signage distributors. Distributor inquiries about the line should be addressed to Jody Simonich, who manages CAO’s signage business unit, at .801 256 9282 or jodys@caolighting.com., sockets, and assemblies.

CAO GROUP RE-STRUCTURES OPTOELECTRONICS OPERATION INTO THREE BUSINESS UNITS, COMPONENTS, AND SOLID STATE SIGNAGE, AND SOLID STATE LIGHTING

Date: 9/20/07 Explosive growth in all three of its major optoelectronic market sectors has led CAO Group to restructure its optoelectronics sales and marketing into three separate business units: components, solid state signage, and solid state lighting. According to Founder, President and CEO Dr. Densen Cao, all the company’s opto products share an underlying technology, but they make their way to different customer types through different channels. The new vertical focus will build expertise and allow a more a more concentrated focus on the varying needs of different customer types, Dr. Cao explained, since each of the three segments is bigger today than their aggregate just a few years ago.

In this new structure, Kennie Kennie Alton will be Director of the Components Business Unit; Jody Simonich will be the Director of the Signage Business Unit; and Jim Malfitano has joined the company as Director of the Lighting Business Unit. Engineering and Operations remain horizontally structured, with Gordon Marble as Director of Operations and Leo Geng as Director of Engineering. Geng has also been named Vice- President of the company’s Golden Valley (Beijing) facility.

Mr. Alton previously worked at 3COM, U.S. Robotics and MSL in various job functions. As Director of the Components business unit, Mr. Alton will focus his activities on building the company’s position in high flux LEDs, especially its Dynasty brand, and in expanding its PCBA business. Mr. Alton is a graduate of Weber State University in Ogden, UT.

Dr. Gary Maag, now heading solid state signage, joined CAO Group earlier this year as inside sales manager for the company’s signage products. He previously held management positions at Autometer, which manufactures gauges for race cars and other specialty vehicles. He has also taught electromechanical engineering at his alma mater, Utah Valley University. He earned his doctorate at Cambridge State University in Honolulu.
